Ian Sainsbury takes a look at the setting up of Hampshire Constabulary's first SmartWater Zone in Portsmouth. SmartWater is a bit like DNA and is used to mark property in a very unique way. It has had a big effect on deterring criminals in other parts of the UK where it's been used as it can be traced back easily. So far every time SmartWater has been in use and a criminal comes into contact with it it has led to a conviction. Ian sets out to find out more about the Scheme in Portsmouth as the scheme gets underway.
